In
principle and in practice, AAUW values and seeks a diverse
membership. There shall be no barriers to full participation
on the basis of gender, race, creed, age, sexual orientation,
national origin, disability or class. Membership in AAUW
is open to all graduates who hold the associates (or equivalent),
baccalaureate or higher degree from a regionally accredited
college or university.
Our national website, www.aauw.org lists
many reasons you might want to join AAUW. See: http://www.aauw.org/join/value.
In addition to the reasons stated there, you will find that
AAUW membership provides a valuable way to be involved in
your local community, through book discussion groups, projects
supporting local students, educational events, voter education,
and much more.
If you are a Washington State resident, follow these steps
to join us.
Branch-State-Association Member
First, visit our Branches page
to locate the nearest branch. Branches shown in green and
underlined post information on our state web site. Click
on the branch and you will jump to their section. Just email
them about joining and please include your mailing address.
If the branch you would like to join doesn't have information
posted or you are not sure which branch meets your needs,
contact the state Vice President of Branch Membership, branchmembership@aauw-wa.org.
You are always welcome at a branch meeting. Branch membership
dues include dues for the state and national organizations.
Member at Large
If you do not live near a branch or prefer to have a national level membership only,
you may use the national AAUW website to become a national
member at large (MAL). Go to: https://svc.aauw.org/join/joinform.cfml. You can be a MAL and join the state level, as well.
To join as a member at large of AAUW of Washington, contact
the state Vice President for members at large, malmembership@aauw-wa.org or click
here for an AAUW-WA Online Membership Form. State membership helps in our projects at the state level and you will receive Member Letters, which arrive approximately once a month. In addition,
your state membership helps support education and
equity through AAUW's lobby efforts in Olympia.
Members at Large are welcome at all state events and may be
delegates at the state and national conventions
If you are not a Washington State resident, follow these
steps.
