BRANCH PROJECTS

Education & Equity

AAUW Scholars Recognition Program.

Susan Blank Memorial Scholarship to be awarded to a girl graduating from one of the high schools on Whidbey Island, in the amount of $1000.  She must be pursuing a visual arts major in a 4 year college, University or Art School.

Women in History presentations for public, private, and home schooled elementary school students March 2006

Public Policy

Public Policy chair forwards all public policy information to members wishing to receive it.

Fundraising

Arts & Appetizers, 11th annual all island high school art show, Saturday & Sunday, May  3&4th, 2008, Noon to 4-P.M. to fund high school grants and scholar stipends.

Quilters Interest Group sells crafts to raise money for EF.

Gourmet I Lunch Interest Group collects money each month for LAF

Used books are sold at meetings for EF.

State pins designed by a member are sold at branch and state meetings.

CONTRIBUTIONS

AAUW Educational Foundation

AAUW Legal Advocacy Fund

Branch grants (3) of $1,000 to a senior in each of 3 island high schools.

Branch awards  (9) of $100.00 to 3 seniors from each of 3 island high schools, recognized as outstanding scholars in math, science and technology.

MEMBER ACTIVITIES

Book Group I meets first Monday morning  of each month

Book Group II meets third Wednesday afternoon of each month 

Gardening Group meets first Tuesday of each month

International Affairs meets third Friday of most months in the Jim Davis house at the Greenbank Farm.

Out to Lunch Bunch meets fourth Wednesday of each month at a selected restaurant

Gourmet 1 meets fourth Thursday of each month at members' homes except Nov/Dec
Gourmet II meets first Friday of each month at members' homes
Gourmet III fourth Friday of each month at member's homes

Cultural Affairs Group contacted when event occurs.

Quilting Group meets third Wednesday at members' homes

Second Thursday Supper Group includes (but does not require) spouses/partners at a selected restaurant.
