Branch Awards and $50 each to 5 girls at three different high schools who excelled in math and science

Sponsor of Greg Mortenson who builds schools for girls in Afghanistan and Pakastan.

PROGRAMS

 January 20, 2007 - "Playing with Time:  Lessons for Life from the Mid 19th Century to the Mid 20th Century".  Author Kit Bakke will discuss her recent book about Louisa May Alcott, abolitionist, suffragette, and woman who supported herself when it was not customary to do so.
 
February 17, 2007 - In celebration of Black History month, Esther Hall Mumford will speak about her writings about Seattle Black history.
 
March 17, 2007 - "Celebrating our Legacies," annual auction to benefit AAUW EF and LAF and branch projects.  Auction items will include many things from the estates of two 50-year branch members, Winifred Weter and Betty Carey, who passed away during the last year.
 
April 21, 2007 - Scholar Recognition Program honoring girls from 7 Seattle high schools who have excelled in Science, Mathematics, and Technology.  There will also be a program about the Washington AAUW STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Initiative.
 
May 12, 2007 - Seattle branch annual meeting with election of officers
