BRANCH PROJECTS FOR EDUCATION & EQUITY
Local Scholarship Award A scholarship is awarded annually in the spring to a woman resuming her interrupted education in a post-secondary program working toward completion of a degree. Primary emphasis in selection is given to need and relationship of student’s goals with the AAUW mission. Scholarship Application Form
Community Grant A monetary grant is awarded to a local non-profit agency to support or expand programs serving women and girls. The program chosen will reflect and support the goals of AAUW and the organization will have the ability and willingness to measure accountability.

High School Scholars are honored for their expertise in Science, Technology, and Math (STEM subjects that equip women for future careers in these fields).

Public Policy The branch participates in the State AAUW Lobby Day in January, organizes or co-sponsors occasional local candidates forums or local issues forums, and distributes information to members about how to affect legislators on issues related to AAUW public priorities.
Programs for 2010
Branch meetings are open to the public. They usually include brief announcements, a program of general interest, and time for socializing. Annual branch dues are $21, payable before June 30. To be a branch member, you also must join the state ($10) and national Association ($49). INTEREST GROUPS
Evening Book Group: meets monthly the first Tuesday at 7:15 at a member’s homeNon-Fiction Book Group: meets monthly the third Friday at 2:00 PM at a member’s home
Quilt Group: meets bi-monthly on a Friday at a member’s home. Quilts are donated to the Eastside Domestic Violence Program
Theater Group: meets periodically to attend theatrical events
Excursions Group: meets periodically to attend points of interest around the East Puget Sound area
Wine Tasting Group: meets two or three times a year at a member’s home or at a winery tasting room.
Great Decisions: meets April-November, usually on the third Wednesday evening at a member's home.
