AAUW-WA Summer Leadership Conference

The annual summer Leadership Conference will be held on August 1 at the Student Union on the Central Washington University campus in Ellensburg from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Branches are encouraged to send at least two of their leaders.  The focus of the conference will be on developing new bylaws for state and branches and on identifying leadership skills that will help branches to be successful.

National Convention Highlights

Nearly one thousand AAUW members made their voices heard at the 2009 national convention in St. Louis June 26-28.  Read about results of the bylaws voting, election of a new president and board, and speeches by such inspiring women as Lilly Ledbetter and U.S. Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT).

Storm-EF Benefit Update - We're Nearly at the $1,000 Mark!

At last count, AAUW-WA branch members have purchased 121 tickets to the Seattle Storm game on July 15.  That means that the Storm will be donating $968 to the AAUW Educational Foundation.  If we can sell just a few more tickets,  we can make that a $1,000 donation.  Let's dig deep and fill the stands.

Welcome

Welcome to the website for AAUW of Washington State.  At AAUW we recently celebrated our 125th anniversary.  Much has changed since 1881, but our mission remains the same:  to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.

If you are not already a member of AAUW-WA, we hope that you will consider joining one of our 37 branches across the state.  As a member, you will enjoy participation in all activities at the branch, state, and national levels, including interest groups, action groups, meetings, and conventions.  You will have the opportunity to be part of a powerful network of members who value education and equal rights and who believe in taking action.  Wherever you go, you will find a community of friends who share your values.

AAUW's strength comes from our local branches.  Use the "How Can I Join" button on this page to find a branch near you, or Contact Us and we will be happy to answer any questions you have.

"By joining AAUW, you belong to a community that breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance."
