"Reach for the Stars" A Stellar Event
More than 150 AAUW members and friends from across the state attended the "Reach for the Stars" brunch and "Pink Tea" held at the Seattle Museum of Flight on February 17th. Among the many exciting events was the launching of the Bonnie J. Dunbar, Ph.D., Washington State Reasearch and Projects Grant, to which attendees generously contributed over $8,000. The remaining profits from the "Reach for the Stars" event, still being tallied, will be directed to the Tacoma Branch Centennial Fund that is close to being fully funded. Congratulations to Kelvie Comer, AAUW-WA EF Chair, and her committee, for coordinating such a memorable day. Photos
Equal Pay Day - April 20, 2010
Start planning now for ways to mark the symbolic day when women's wages finally catch up with men's wages from last year! Suggestions for how your branch can call attention to the fact that women still only earn 77 cents for every dollar a man earns for equal work...
Welcome
Welcome to the website for AAUW of Washington State. At AAUW we recently celebrated our 125th anniversary. Much has changed since 1881, but our mission remains the same: to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.
If you are not already a member of AAUW-WA, we hope that you will consider joining one of our 37 branches across the state. As a member, you will enjoy participation in all activities at the branch, state, and national levels, including interest groups, action groups, meetings, and conventions. You will have the opportunity to be part of a powerful network of members who value education and equal rights and who believe in taking action. Wherever you go, you will find a community of friends who share your values.
AAUW's strength comes from our local branches. Use the "How Can I Join" button on this page to find a branch near you, or Contact Us and we will be happy to answer any questions you have.
"By joining AAUW, you belong to a community that breaks through educational and economic barriers so that all women have a fair chance."
